Jamil Mohammed has been awarded a Pegasus Scholarship and will be spending 6 weeks in October and November 2021 in the USA, with The Pegasus Trust and the American Bar Association.
Previous holders of the scholarship have met Supreme Court Justices, top lawyers and lawmakers, to see first hand how the two jurisdictions, with their shared Common Law heritage, address the challenges of access to justice.
Lord Goff of Chieveley, First Chairman of the Pegasus Trust said:
"The Pegasus scholarship scheme makes it possible for gifted young lawyers – the future leaders of their professions – to learn about the practical working of the common law system in countries other than their own, and to form enduring links with lawyers in those counties."
The scheme is an exchange program, wherein young English barristers visit the United States for six weeks to learn about the American legal system, and young American Inn of Court members visit London for six weeks to learn about the English legal system.
Jamil appears regularly in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court (including Youth Court) and the Family Court.
