LIDW21 webinar : Unconscious Bias and Its Effect on Dispute Resolution

Unconscious Bias and Its Effect on Dispute Resolution

How to play mind games.

Some would say this is the bread and butter of our profession.  But what if you were involved in a game without realising it? What if because you don’t know you’re playing, you’re losing?

Every decision we make is the result of a mind game played on us by our unconscious mind. Its clandestine tactic is to trick us into relying on instinct rather than analysis. That is the unconscious bias game most of us are not aware we’re playing.

Get your head in the game.

Addleshaw Goddard LLP and McCarthy Tetrault LLP are proud to co-host the panel discussion “Unconscious bias and its effect on dispute resolution”, a #LIDW21 member-hosted event via Zoom, in collaboration with representatives from ArbitralWomenREALArbitration Place and 33 Bedford Row.

The powerhouse panel includes The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlinLouise BarringtonSarah Vasani and Junior Sirivar and is moderated by The Honourable Barry Leon with (third eye) opening remarks by Tina Benson. Together, they will shine a bright light onto the cognitive traps that lurk within our unconscious mind which could be sabotaging our decision-making, and will discuss how unconscious bias might be managed by encouraging and creating behavioural change in the choice of arbitrators and counsel teams.

Note: All instructions and information on how to access the session will be forwarded a few days before the event.
