Haydee Dijkstal is representing before the UN, Mr Dil Mohammed, a prominent spokesperson of the Rohingya community of ‘No Mans Land’ - the Rohingya refugee encampment in the ‘buffer zone’ between the borders of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Instructed to raise his detention before the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Ms Dijkstal submitted a case under the Regular Procedure which raised evidence of serious violations to his fair trial and due process rights of such gravity that it demonstrates the arbitrary nature of his detention under Category III. This includes information about his arrest akin to abduction, enforced disappearance and solitary confinement for a prolonged period, as well as, information on the failure to provide reasons for arrest or charges promptly, failure to provide a lawyer for a prolonged period and during interrogations, attempts to force a false confession and denial of contact with family. Ms Dijkstal was assisted by pupil, Nina Reinach.
