Animal Justice Project - an animal welfare charity - obtained undercover footage of three men from Oaklands Farms abusing dairy calves. See coverage of the incident here. 

These farmers have now been convicted and sentenced by the courts  (Kidderminster Magistrates Court), following a previous hearing in 2023, where the owner of Oakland Farms – Derek Whittall, was prosecuted. This is the first private prosecution for Animal Justice Project. 33 Bedford Row barrister, Ayesha Smart, led the prosecution. 

Ayesha prosecutes and defends a variety of offences, however, her specialty is in animal law and serious crime.
