Members of chambers can advise and represent in respect to trading standards matters. This area brings in many wide and diverse sets of legal and regulatory rules, generally centred around consumer protection, public safety and protecting the vulnerable.

Areas where assistance can be provided, include product safety, food standards/regulation and safety, unfair commercial practices, unfair contract terms, unfair trading, consumer redress, and environmental standards.

Assistance can also be provided in respect to specific sectors prone to issues, for instance, in respect to letting agencies, package travel, animal health and welfare, consumer credit and fraud, age-restricted products/offensive weapons and waste disposal.

Members can advise on investigations by local authority regulators and trading standard officers in the consumer enforcement arena, and in respect to civil or criminal enforcement.
