Ayesha Smart successfully prosecuted a couple  on behalf of the RSPCA for abusing their dog. Ms. Smart told the Carlisle Crown Court how the defendant "had been feeding the dog baby milk and putting water in his dry food to try and fill him up". 

The West Cumbrian couple, who's dog had endured severe neglect it was described as 'a bag of bones', have been handed suspended prison sentences. Both defendants have been banned from owning or keeping any animal for ten years.
