33 Bedford Row is proud to announce that Christina Warner has been shortlisted in two categories for the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2026: the Pro Bono Award and Legal Personality of the Year.

The LexisNexis Legal Awards celebrate the best of the legal profession, recognising those who demonstrate exceptional advocacy, innovation, and a commitment to the rule of law.

Christina has been shortlisted for the Pro Bono Award for her work as the founder of Ruby’s Law. The campaign seeks to close a critical gap in family law by ensuring that pets are legally recognised and protected in domestic abuse cases.

Ruby's Law aims to:

  • Amend the Family Law Act (1996): Allowing pets to be included in Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders.
  • Update the Domestic Abuse Act (2021): Recognising the use of pets as a tool for coercive control.
  • Ensure Pet Custody: Providing legal mechanisms so survivors are not forced to choose between their safety and their pet’s life.

Ruby’s Law became a formal Bill on 10 March 2026 and is now known as the Domestic Abuse (Pets) Bill, and is due for Second Reading later this Spring.

In addition to her pro bono work, Christina is a finalist for Legal Personality of the Year. This award recognises individuals who have made a significant impact through their advocacy, leadership, and public profile.

As a multi-award-winning barrister, Christina is a leading voice for the vulnerable - both human and animal. Her presence across national media and her role in pushing for legislative reform has established her as one of the most dynamic personalities at the modern Bar.

The winners will be announced at the Park Plaza London Riverbank on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
