Diana Constantinide was instructed to act on behalf of the General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, in disciplinary proceedings concerning Mr Shahid Nazir, an optometrist based in Bradford.

Following a substantive hearing between 29 September 2025 - 10 October 2025, the GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found Mr Nazir’s fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. The case involved multiple inadequate eye examinations and/or assessments, including the recording of false information in patient records.

The Committee determined Mr Nazir’s immediate suspension from the GOC register for a period of 12 months.

Diana regularly acts on behalf of professional regulators in disciplinary and fitness to practise proceedings and has particular expertise in complex cases involving issues of professional integrity and clinical standards.
