We are pleased to announce that founder of 'George's Law' Mrs. Lengthorn from RWK Goodman London and Mrs. Constantinide from 33 Bedford Row Chambers, alongside the support of MP Yiacoumis from Famagusta constituency, have successfully prepared and submitted the Miscarriage Leave Bill (George’s Law) for enactment in the Republic of Cyprus.

This important Bill will provide much-needed support for individuals and families affected by miscarriage in Cyprus, ensuring that they receive proper care, recognition, and rights during one of the most difficult times in their lives. An important aspect of the Bill is the 24-week threshold, which establishes that individuals who experience a miscarriage beyond 24 weeks will receive 3 day paid leave.

The Miscarriage Leave Bill is a crucial step forward in creating a more supportive and equitable society for all those affected by miscarriage, helping to transform the way miscarriage is treated within Cyprus’s legal and medical frameworks.

The Bill aims to:

  • Ensure paid leave for those who experience miscarriage, providing time to heal and recover.
  • Recognize miscarriage as a significant loss, offering the same level of support and care as any other health condition.
  • Raise awareness and reduce stigma around the topic of miscarriage, creating a more supportive environment for those affected.
