On 10 September 2024, a British national returned home to the United Kingdom after a prolonged ordeal in Saudi Arabia which included abusive detention and unfair trial proceedings, followed by enduring a 5 year period under a travel-ban which prevented him from returning to the UK while also restricting his ability to work or support himself.

Haydee Dijkstal led the international legal team representing the British national since June 2022.  Dr S Chelvan joined the legal team in June 2023.  The legal team was assisted at periods of the legal representation by Aqsa Hussain and Holly Armstrong. 

The legal team worked to raise the British citizen’s human rights situation, and the international legal obligations of the Government of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
