Sonia Larbi Aïssa represented the defendant at Snaresbrook Crown Court. The court heard details of the defendant’s arrest in a cannabis grow house in North London where 119 cannabis plants were seized with a street value of over £20,000.

The defendant had been trafficked to the UK as a young adult on the promise of legitimate employment but was made to work by his traffickers in the grow house as a gardener.

Despite a negative NRM decision, the court did not deem the custody threshold to be passed and instead imposed a community order of one year.

Sonia was instructed by Unan Choudhury at Lewis Nedas Solicitors.
