Philip appeared in a planning inquiry to represent thousands of people in South Wales against the development of an area known locally as ‘The Canyons’. The planning inquiry was hard fought but Philip Williams was successful, dispite Philip being against two prominent planning silks Ms Morag Ellis QC and Michael Bedford QC. The inquiry was commented upon in the Welsh Assembly.
Head of Planning and Property, barrister Kevin Leigh commented “Once again Philip fought hard and successfully for the underdog. It is a tremendous result. Having led Philip in other cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal I know his passion for preserving the Welsh countryside.”
Philip’s planning practice in South Wales is growing, having recently been instructed to represent the interests of a group known as “SWIPE” - who have the backing of Extinction Rebellion - against the development of an incinerator in the USK valley.
The 'The Canyons' planning Inquiry was covered extensively in the media: (1) BBC Wales; (2) South Wales Argus; (3) South Wales Argus; and (4) BBC Wales.
