Philip Williams and Ayesha Smart, instructed by Ozan Askin at Silvine Law, successfully managed to negotiate a settlement for their client in excess of £400,000 plus costs for an accident at work claim which happened in a remote part of Wales.
The Claimant was working on the “Kill Line” at a slaughter house when he slipped, fell, and cut his right thigh with the knife he was holding. The Claimant was a foreign national who was thereafter subject to significant medical needs and life changing injuries.
The matter was listed for a High Court trial in June 2021. Liability and quantum were disputed by the Defendant. Further, the Defendant failed to disclose expert medical evidence, despite examination of the Claimant and served pivotal evidence shortly before the meeting.
The Claimant is unlikely to work for the foreseeable future as a result of peripheral neuropathy attributable to his injuries.
