Philip Williams was successful in obtaining judgement and a costs order in favour of Alex Reid in his claim against his former wife Katie Price for the Misuse of Private information, Breach of Confidence, Breach of Contract and Breach of Data Protection, notwithstanding her bankruptcy having been granted some 24 hours earlier.  The allegations (that are now proven) involved videos of a sexual nature that were private and should have remained private. The ruling followed the principles as set down in Heating Electrical Lighting and Piping Ltd (in Liquidation) v Ross & Ors [2012] EWHC 3764 and section 285 of the Insolvency Act 1986.

Philip has been instructed for many years by many high-profile sportsmen and celebrities and on this occasion was able to obtain an injunction against Ms Price to stop any further bullying or data breaches until 2024, where there will be liberty to apply further. Mr Williams is set to return in March next year to obtain a further award of substantial damages and further costs totalling (potentially) three quarters of a million pounds. Philip was led by Patrick Harrington QC of Farrar’s Building and instructed by Tim Gir of Sanders Witherspoon LLP.

The matter has been reported widely in virtually all the national newspapers. Here are a few articles: Metro, The Sun, Daily Mail and The Mirror.
