Jamil is known for his levelheadedness, client care, in depth analysis and hands on approach to every case, with chambers often receiving feedback echoing the same, from both solicitors and clients.

Family Law

Jamil has developed a strong practice in Family Law; acting in both private and public law proceedings. 

He accepts an array of instructions including cases of a complex and contested nature in children matters and financial disputes, following relationship breakdowns.

His practice encompasses wide-ranging issues including: child arrangement orders, financial remedies, dispute resolution, non-molestation orders, occupation orders, urgent injunctions, Fact Finding and Final hearings. As well as cases involving international relocation and child abduction.

 Private Children

Jamil often works with an array of clients within children proceedings, including negotiating contact arrangements, enforcement of child contact arrangement. He is well equipped in dealing with high conflict cases as well as cases with welfare concerns and parental alienation.

He has negotiated complex but clear child arrangement orders for both applicants and respondents, including for cross-border contact. Jamil has developed a practice on ‘both sides of the coin’.

To date Jamil has represented applicants in Applications to relocate both within and out of the jurisdiction. 

 Family Law Act 

Jamil has plenty of experience dealing with applications for Non-molestation and Occupation orders under Part IV, whether applying for or resisting. He is also used to advising on how such orders could impact upon potential private child and/or financial remedy proceedings. 

 Family Finance 

Jamil is experienced in many aspects of matrimonial finance ranging from needs-based matters to high net worth cases. He has a great deal of experience in dealing with cases involving  pre-marital assets, non-disclosure and dissipation of assets. He has experience at each stage of financial remedy proceedings and applications from first appointment to final hearing. As well as the wherewithal to sensibly negotiate towards achieving a final settlement ahead of trial.

Jamil appears in Crown Court and Magistrates’ Courts (including Youth Courts), he is experienced in a wide range of criminal matters, having conducted numerous and varied trials, including GBH, PWITS Class A, domestic burglary, theft, possession of knife/bladed articles, sexual assaults, common assaults and domestic violence as well as a wide range of road traffic & motoring offences.

Jamil has experience before disciplinary tribunals and regulatory bodies having presented cases on behalf of the Nursing & Midwifery Council, as well as regularly acting on behalf of local authorities prosecuting trials and other hearings.

Jamil is the 2021 recipient of the Inner Temple Pegasus Scholarship Award and ambassador for the programme, spending spring of 2022 in Washington DC, with the American Bar Association as well as continuing to be involved with the American Inns of Court.

Lord Goff, First Chairman of the Pegasus Trust describing the award as: "The Pegasus scholarship scheme makes it possible for gifted young lawyers – the future leaders of their professions – to learn about the practical working of the common law system in countries other than their own, and to form enduring links with lawyers in those counties.”
